The Schneider True Pol is a circular True-Pol Polarizing filter for cameras which use polarizing elements in the beam-splitters of the viewing system, such as ARRI 435 and the Movie-Cam Compact.
This filter may also be required on certain high definition video cameras with complex optical blocks such as the Sony PMW-EX1, PMW-EX3, and PDW-700 which polarize the red an blue channels more than other cameras and therefore require a circular polarizer to prevent cross polarization and associated color shift in the image.
Polarizers are commonly used to control glare on water and to allow the camera to see below the surface. They are also used to reduce glare on car bumpers and control reflections on plate-glass windows. Polarizers are so versatile they can also perform the opposite functions. Cinematographers report that True-Pol filters capture more u saturation, wider tonal range, and greater contrast.
The absolute clarity of the Schneider True Pol glass combined with advanced polarizing material makes True Pol filters particularly useful in demanding scenes, like shooting through windshields in rigged vehicles.
