Schneider Split Diopters are used to increase the minimum working distance enabling closer focus from a greater working distance on half of the frame.
Split-Field Diopters allow simultaneous focus on both close-up and faraway subjects. A standard diopter element is precision-cut in half and mounted in the ring.
Frame your subject, focus on the distant background, and move the camera slightly to obtain close focus on the foreground.
Position the slightly out-of-focus line of the cut edge of the glass in an area it won‘t be noticed. Closing the iris will reduce the width of this line.
These special split field diopters differ from traditional diopters because the single diopter element is precision cut in half and mounted in the ring.
The result is half the image is magnified and the other half is untouched.
Schneider split diopters are perfect for scenes where half the frame requires close focus and the other half requires distance focus while keeping all points in-between sharp.
Made of the finest optical glass, Schneider Full and Split-field Diopters utilize a hard, anti-reflective coating on both front and rear surfaces. This measurably reduces flare and light loss so there’s no need for exposure compensation.
This also preserves proper color, contrast, and overall image quality.
These drop-in diopter lenses feature rugged black anodized aluminum rings and are protected by a unique mounting technique that ensures structural integrity and consistent performance, even in the harshest production environments.
